Best diet to keep skin glow

Eating healthy food is most important things for skin. No matter how many skin care products you apply to the outside of your skin, if you aren’t eating healthy food to nourish your skin from within, your skin will look dull, unhealthy and undernourished. If you are loading up on sugary drinks, junk food, and processed snacks, you are very likely to have acne prone, dull looking skin.

Your skin is the largest and most important organ known to your body. It has a tough job filtering toxins that you are exposed to as you move about your day. Your skin also works to hold moisture in your body so you don’t become dehydrated. Skin protects your blood and organs from germs to keep you healthy.

We spend lots of time and money considering what we put on our faces. But how much do you think about whether or not you're following a clear skin diet? In the past, dermatologists maintained that unless you wipe greasy fingers on your face, food doesn't cause zits.

How Diet Affects Your Skin

“I tell my patients that what they put in their mouths is as important as the products they apply on their skin,” says Dr. Manju Keshari (Dermatologist of KMEPS Skin Clinic), who’s written her about eating healthy foods. Foods get digested and broken down into vitamins, minerals and amino acids that your body can use to build the healthy skin. If you crash diet or eat highly processed foods, your skin won’t be as strong and supple as it could be.

What to Eat for Glowing Skin

Dr. Manju Keshari Says that best skin diet is one that involves eating vegetables of different colors for every meal and a green juice every day You probably think about how nutrition affects your internal health and your weight, but eating the right foods can also improve the quality of your skin.

Your Diet and Your Skin

Here are some of the best foods you can incorporate into your diet to improve your complexion:

  • Low-Fat Dairy products – one of the most important components of a healthy skin diet is vitamin A, which can be found in low-fat dairy products.
  • High antioxidant content: Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and plums – these foods contain high antioxidant content, which provides an array of benefits for the healthy skin.
  • Essential fatty acids Contents: Salmon, walnuts, canola oil, and flaxseed – these seemingly unrelated foods each deliver essential fatty acids, which are key elements in a healthy diet.
  • Healthy oils – these contain more than essential fatty acids, which helps to keep skin lubricated and keeps it looking and feeling healthier overall.
  • Water – while the amount needed every day varies, it continues to remain undisputed that it plays a significant role in good hydration, which is essential for your healthy skin diet.

What is fungal infection and how it’s treated?

A fungus is just a type of germ.A fungus is a primitive organism and the fungi can live everywhere in the air, in the soil, on plants, and in water. Some fungi are helpful, while others harmful. Fungi (the plural of fungus) are all around us and don't usually cause any problems. However, occasionally they can settle down and grow in places on our bodies like our skin, nails, between our toes.

How fungal infections are spread

The main cause of spreading Fungal in ignoring hygiene. Infections are spread by direct skin contact (with humans or animals), or indirectly from contaminated articles on floors or in the soil. Shared changing rooms and showers are often a source of tinea, while some infections are spread by sharing of items such as towels.

Causes of fungal skin infections

You’re more likely to get a fungal skin infection if you:
  • Don’t dry your skin fully after a bath or shower
  • Come into contact with a person or animal with a fungal skin infection
  • Touch contaminated items, such as clothes, towels, and bedclothes
  • Walk barefoot in shower and pool areas
  • Wear tight clothing that doesn’t allow sweat to evaporate
  • Diabetes
  • Have recently taken a course of antibiotics
  • In pregnancy
  • Being  overweight

Symptoms of fungal skin infections

Fungal skin infections can cause a variety of different skin rashes. Some are red, scaly and itchy. Others may produce a fine scale, similar to dry skin. The fungus can affect just one area or several areas of your body. If you get a fungal infection of your scalp, you may lose some hair. The symptoms of a fungal skin infection depend on the type of fungus that’s caused it, and where it is. Fungal rashes can sometimes be confused with other skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema.

How can it be treated?

Commonly skin fungal infections are not serious and can be treated using a variety of techniques and methods. A common option is a laser treatment which has been shown to improve the skin’s condition after 5 months in the majority of cases. The doctor may even focus laser treatment on nails as it may not show any symptoms of infection at first, and this will help to remove any potential fungus growing there.

The fungi are killed by the heat generated by the laser, targeting and killing fungus cells in the affected area which helps to prevent any future manifestation. Patients will experience no major side effects and can resume daily activities immediately since no downtime is required after treatment.

At KEMPS Skin Clinic, our doctors will guide and advise you for the best treatment and the number of sessions required. Depending on your skin’s condition and severity of the infection, a combination of techniques may be used in order to maximize the chances of curing the fungal infection as quickly as possible.

How to maintain a glowing skin at the age of 40? This is the questions that most of us at the age of 40 ask the skin specialists and dermatologist and which need a satisfying answer. Clear glowing skin is a dream for every person. No one likes pimples, zits, dark spots, baggy eyes or dark circles. There are different skin types and different problems associated with them. Dry skin can get itchy sometimes and needs to be hydrated often to keep it glowing.

Are you in your 40's or older? Are you at an age where you're experiencing wrinkles, fine lines and other changes in your skin? Feeling insecure? Many women today are determined to keep their skin youthful looking. They apply different kinds of cream to their faces and other parts of their body to hide the signs of aging on their skin. As technology advances, there are more and more advances and easier ways to help people slow down the process of aging.

How the Skin Changes in Our 40s

At the age of 30, our body stops the production of collagen, and collagen plays a big part in our organs, especially our skin, which is the biggest organ in our body.

  • Pigmentation
  • Melasma

Skin types and care:

Every person’s skin is unique, but there are a few common skin types. Skin is generally classified into five categories says Dr. Manju Keshari, a dermatologist of KEMPS Skin Clinic, Ghaziabad. Understanding the different types of skin will give you a better idea of how to treat acne breakouts and reveal smooth, clear skin.

  1. Normal Skin Type
  2. Dry Skin Type
  3. Oily Skin Type
  4. Combination Skin
  5. Sensitive Skin
Normal Skin Type

Normal skin type has a healthy glow with a fine texture and no open pores. It rarely develops spots or shiny areas. It is soft, smooth, pimple-free, clean and without flaky areas. In fact, it's quite rare to find a normal skin, especially as all skins tend to become slightly drier as you get older.

Dry Skin

Dry skin can feel tight throughout the day, and may experience noticeable flaking. Dry skin is largely due to genetics, environmental factors such as lifestyle & diet, hormonal changes, and climate. Dehydration is also a leading cause of dry skin, so drinking plenty of water and avoiding diuretics like alcohol and caffeine can make a significant difference in how your skin feels and looks.

Oily Skin

Oily skin has an enlarged pore and produces more than enough oil which may cause blackheads and pimples. You can care for your shiny pores in a way that works with your skin’s natural, not against it, so your problem skin will be clear, more even-toned, healthy and balanced.

Combination Skin:

Combination skin is also very common and it is somewhat difficult to take care of. When you have a combination skin, your skin may be more oily than dry or it may be more dry than oily. So first you have to check which is more dominant. Whether it is oilier or drier, the T-zone (your forehead, nose and the chin) will always be oily. People with combination skin have a shiny skin and visible pores.

Sensitive Skin

Please note that you may have sensitive skin and normal, oily, or dry. If your skin has allergic reactions to beauty products and is usually sensitive to the sun, wind, and cold weather, it is sensitive. Sensitivity can show up in rash, redness, inflammation, acne, and dilated capillaries. Sensitive skin requires sensitive care – it needs to be treated gently, first and foremost, by avoiding irritating products.

How to treat skin problems: There are ways to tackle skin problems without damaging your skin. Just remember the number one rule of skin care: maintain cleanness and hygiene and consult our dermatologist when you face any skin problem. Some time home remedies harm your skin.

How to take care of your skin in summer?

Your skin may be a protective shell, or maybe for you it’s the clue that defines your age; whatever your idea may be, one fact cannot be ignored – skin is the most sensitive yet pivotal organ of the human body. This simply means that you should pay special attention towards the skincare; although your attention should be proper all the time, summer season asks for more skin care attitude.

With summer just right around the corner, people are searching for summer skin care tips that can help them survive the negative effects of staying under the sun. Ironic as it may be, even though the sun is the icon for the summer season, it’s also the biggest concern for a lot of people.

Dr. Manju Keshari is a Dermatologist in Kemps skin clinic in Ghaziabad, she tells us about, how summer affects your skin, to how you can take care of all those problems. She also gave out simple tips for skin care during the summers.

Best Summer Skin Care Tips

The basis of skin care in the summer is above all the protection of the skin from the effects of ultraviolet radiation (UV protection), this is best done by suitable sun protection. To do this, always adjust the sun protection to your skin type (the brighter the skin, the higher the sun protection factor). The light protection factor should be at least 20. In this way, the skin is well protected from sunburn, which could otherwise lead to skin peeling. Furthermore, premature aging of the skin is prevented.

Skin Care in summer

It is also possible to protect yourself against dangerous sun rays by means of suitable clothing. Make sure your skin is covered as much as possible. You can even buy clothes with built-in UV protection.
Increased perspiration and increased formation of sebum directly lead to clogging of the pores. Therefore it is essential to clean the skin thoroughly as part of skin care, this also prevents skin impurities.

In addition to protecting your skin against the sun, you may also need to change your skincare routine in summer:
  • Stay away from Sun in the peak hours.
  • Try exfoliating more often if your skin is suffering from sweat and clogged pores
  • Make sure you’re staying hydrated as it’s good for your health and your skin
  • Increase your water intake. Drink lots of water as this helps to keep the skin hydrated.
  • Try to stay indoors and avoid going outdoors in the noon/afternoon when Sun is overhead.
  • Avoid carbonated soft drinks i.e cool drinks.
  • Shower after swimming in pools as the chlorine can dry out your skin
  • Avoid eating spicy foods like dum biryani etc. Eat healthy, nutritious and balanced food for an overall health condition of the skin, body, and mind.
  • Wear loose and light-colored cotton clothes. Avoid tight-fitting synthetic wear.
  • Go for an early morning walk or late evening walk to stay fit.

Keep makeup to a minimum

Give your skin a break in the summer and try to wear makeup as little as possible. This will give your skin the opportunity to breathe and be free from the chemicals and cosmetics. Getting air to you skin is vital, as it’s not being covered up by cosmetic products and it’s a good way for your skin to feel fresh and uplifted.

What causes skin pigmentation on face and it’s treatment?

Facial pigmentation may be due to a generalized process but most often is localized to the face. Melasma and actinic damage pigmentation are common and tend to be bilaterally distributed and slowly progressive. Irregularly shaped isolated lesions should be viewed with more caution, and biopsy may be required. Treatments include topical and oral medications, peels, intense pulsed light therapy and laser treatment.

Causes

When your skin produces too much melanin, the pigment responsible for the color of your skin and hair, you may notice spots of discoloration or an uneven texture. A number of different factors can influence your body’s melanin production, including:

Common causes of skin include:
  • Sun exposure
  • Hormonal changes
  • Heredity
  • Acne
  • Botched skin treatments

Diagnosis:

A doctor will diagnose pigmentation simply by looking at your skin. Your medical history will help to determine any factors that may have caused the disorder.

Our doctor may use a special lamp that gives off ultraviolet light. This allows the doctor to see patterns and depth of skin discoloration more clearly.

There are various causes of hyperpigmentation, including
  • Overexposure to the sun
  • Heredity
  • Picking at the skin
  • Endocrine diseases and hormonal changes
  • Certain medications such as antibiotics, cancer drugs, antiseizure
  • drugs and more
  • Current or recent pregnancy, or current or recent use of birth
  • Inflammation and skin injuries from acne lesions, psoriasis, burns,
  • Friction and even certain professional skin care treatments.

Skin pigmentation laser treatment

Some lasers can be used for the treatment of skin pigmentation and have minimal or no impact on normal skin. This is possible due to the process of selective photothermolysis. This is a term that describes how a particular laser wavelength is attracted to pigmented lesions and only minimally to the normal skin to allow selective removal of a lesion. This allows the laser to selectively disrupt the pigment with minimal or no damage to surrounding skin

Treatment of skin pigmentation

There are many products available on the market for this condition; however, at KEMPS Skin Clinic near Vaishali metro station, we offer a range of medical procedures which have proven very effective in the treatment of skin pigmentation and other skin conditions.

Pimples on your face say what about your health

Every woman gets a pimple before the period, she blames it on hormones and hides pimples with concealer. But have you ever thought why pimples appear on the same spot every time and no cream or cleanser can help getting rid of them? Skin doctor suggests that problems with the skin are a reflection of inner well-being.

Your skin is basically a billboard for what's going on inside your body. The place on your body that is prone to pimples can help to determine what health problems you might have. Because breakouts actually don't just occur randomly, a pimple can send a pretty clear message about your health and hygiene, according to dermatologist Dr. Manju Keshari, director of KEMPS Skin Clinic in Ghaziabad.

Each point on your face is linked to specific body organs and functions, so a breakout in a particular area means there is something wrong elsewhere in the body.

Here are some areas your face may be breaking out or experiencing an issue,

  • Pimple on your Forehead

Breakouts on the forehead are directly related to your stomach and food intake. Stop eating junk food, excessive sugar and drink plenty of water as this could also be a greater problem of stomach infection after some time.

  • Pimples on cheeks

These pimples usually are caused when your face touches dirty cell phones, pillowcases, makeup brushes, and dirty hands! These germs are transferred to your skin and can clog your pores causing breakouts on your cheeks so take proper cleanness for cell phones, pillow covers etc.

  • Between your eyebrows

These breakouts are related to your digestive system and poor circulation. Therefore, if you’re intolerant to certain foods, this may appear as rashes or breakouts in this area. Unhealthy foods such as sugar candies and junk food may also result in breakouts in this area. A better-planned diet chart may help you to maintain clear skin.

  • Above the brow

Breakouts in this area will give you insight on your immune system. If you start breaking out in this area, it could be an indication that you’re coming down with a cold or other illness. Clear your skin by boosting your immunity by taking proper nutrition.

  • Pimples on Chin

A large number of us have hormonal irregular, however, aren't mindful of them. On the off chance that you break out on your chin, it might be an indication of hormonal issues. Give your skin additional consideration amid that season of a month and begin to address the significantly more concerning issue of imbalanced hormones.

  • Pimples around the lips

These breakouts are related to your digestive system and poor diet, the residue from acidic foodstuffs like lemon or vinegar can cause irritation on the skin and ultimately cause inflammation. These foods obstruct the pores physically. Accordingly, the gnarly looking zits happen around the mouth.

Top 10 skin care tips in summer provide by KEMPS Skin Clinic

Summer weather means showing more skin, hotter temperatures and plenty of days spent in the sun. You know that a regular skin care routine includes cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating. However, during the summer you need to add a few additional steps to your skin care regimen. Your skin is the largest organ your body has and you should treat it with care.

There are several tips to help minimize the effects of the sun on your skin as well as prepare your skin for the summer months. They are following-

1. Staying out of sun during hottest hours

The hottest hours of the day are between 10 am and 3 pm. You should avoid staying out for long in these hours as your skin will get more exposed to radiations.

2. Apply sunscreen

Sunscreen is the best way to which your skin is protected. Choose a sunscreen which has a combination of sunscreen and moisturizer. You need to nourish your skin with vitamins and anti-oxidants for long term benefits.

3. Carry water everywhere

Higher temperature and spending more time outdoor can make your body dehydrated, which can result in headaches and dizzy spells! The only way to keep the body hydrated from within is to drink more and more water.

4. Protecting your skin

Protect your facial skin by wearing a hat, wear sunglasses to protect your eyes as the sensitive skin around the eyes is prone for fast aging.

5. Avoid Aerated Drinks

Though advertisements tend to promote aerated drinks by showing a chilled bottle on a really hot day, avoid the temptation. We say this because though it might seem logical, it does more harm than good.

6. Keep skin hydrated

During the summer days, you need to choose your makeup products very carefully. Opt for makeup products that contain some sort of hydrating or moisturizing ingredients. You must buy intensive masques for the summer months and use it once or twice a week to enjoy hydrated skin.

7. Treat sun damaged skin

Even after using sunscreen, sun rays often cause damage to the skin. In case you have sun damaged skin, get it treated immediately with over the counter gels and lotions. Such products can help prevent peeling and reduce redness and inflammation.

8. Stay in the shade

If you’re going to be spending some time outside this summer, make sure you pick a shady area to sit, especially if you have to be out during the hottest parts of the day (between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.).

9. Do not apply perfume on your skin when going out.

This one is an absolute no-no. Put perfume on your clothes but putting it on your skin can permanently stain your skin due to the psoralen in the perfume.

10. Drink water

Don’t get hit with dehydration in this summer. Not only it damages the skin by creating unwanted lines – and in severe cases, scaly skin – but also it will leave you feeling exhausted and may result in nasty headaches.

How does the environmental change affect our skin?

Different types of environmental factors can have their own effects on the skin. For example, chemicals such as oil and tar can clog your pores and cause acne or folliculitis. Other materials can cause tissue to break down or fluids to build up in the skin.

The relationship between the environment and our genes is important. Despite genetic predisposition, it is possible to manage one’s skin condition—if one is aware of the various environmental factors that come:

Hot weather: When temperatures are high, our bodies sweat to cool down. Perspiration may cause a variety of skin issues such as irritation, rash, and acne.  A gentle cleanser to wash away perspiration is often a great idea. Moreover, heat can cause drying of the skin, leading to skin that is rough or flaky in feel and appearance.

Cold weather: Colder climates are generally characterized by cold temperatures and windy conditions. These elements can often strip moisture from the skin, leaving it dry, flaky, and even chapped or cracking.

Humidity: The amount of humidity in the air can have a huge effect on your skin. Low humidity can pull moisture from the skin and leave it dehydrated, dry, and flaky. In contrast, high humidity prevents evaporation of sweat, leading to clogged pores, oily skin, and in many cases, acne breakouts.

Pollution: The places we live, particularly urban areas, often contain environmental pollution. Exposures to contaminants such as cigarette smoke, smog, and exhaust from automobiles can enhance the creation of skin-damaging free radicals, which may lead to wrinkles and other signs of skin aging.

Climate: Cold, dry climates cause eczema to flare while hot, humid climates aggravate acne—that’s a common belief. It’s not always so. While cases vary, Dr. Manju Keshari from KEMPS Skin Clinic agree that a change in climate will usually bring about a change—good or bad—in one’s chronic skin condition.

Biological: Elements like bacteria, pollens, allergens, and pet dander could also be wreaking havoc on your skin. If you tend to break out in a rash after playing with your pet or you break out in hives after eating a strawberry, you are all too familiar with how biological elements like allergens can affect your skin.

The environment seems to be a big issue lately; companies and communities are constantly looking for ways to “go green” and help promote healthier, happy environments across the world so that the Earth can continue to thrive and nourish people and animals alike. Both natural and man-made environmental factors have been linked to several different skin conditions.
